Please Read Before Placing

Because
of the risks involved during cutting practice it is important
for you to approach tameshigiri
with the proper mindset and attitude. Tameshigiri is a valuable
training tool but it is not the end result of your training,
it is only a gauge
that is used
along the way to measure your progress.
The
first few times you do tameshigiri you should be with a qualified,
experienced instructor who knows how to cut. Books, magazines,
videos, and "buddies" with little or no experience
are not the best way to start. If you have previous experience
and
are ready to practice cutting on your own, you should speak with
your instructor to make sure that he or she feels it is appropriate.
If
you are thinking of doing tameshigiri on your own without
previous
training or the help of an instructor, you should consider waiting
until you can find an experienced teacher. Patience is one
of
the greatest virtues learned in the Martial Arts and you will
not get far without it. Cutting a target is fairly easy, always
cutting well in different situations is extremely difficult.
Whatever
your circumstances, always be aware and cut safely.
Test
cutting can be very dangerous for the practitioner
and those nearby. Do not attempt to do any test cutting
without
first getting qualified guidance from a trained instructor.
Make sure that your equipment is in good working order
and that the area is clear of people and obstructions.
ALWAYS check to make sure that the mekugi (peg) in
the sword handle is in good condition and firmly in
place before starting. We
strongly recommend the use of two pegs for an additional
margin of safety. Please read and follow all instructions. |
